A native of Baltimore, Dr. Shermak graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna cum Laude from Franklin and Marshall College. She earned her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and was the first to finish a combined residency program in general and plastic surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Board Certified in Plastic Surgery and an active member in the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). Dr. Shermak represents the American Board of Plastic Surgery, examining candidates for board certification.After completing her plastic surgery training, Dr. Shermak went on to pursue further specialized training in aesthetic, breast, and body contouring surgery in Nashville with Dr. G. Patrick Maxwell and Dr. Jack Fisher. There she learned the latest techniques in body contouring surgery, including liposuction and body lifts; breast surgery, including primary and complex cosmetic and reconstructive procedures; and facial rejuvenation surgery, including laser resurfacing, facial peels, endoscopic surgery, and facelifts.
