Welcome to Immigrant Assistance Services, a community-based tax exempt organization under section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code Tax ID #39-2069737. Founded in 2005 by immigrants like you in response to the needs of low-income and vulnerable immigrants. Our work is made possible by grants, donations from individuals and businesses, pro bono attorneys as well as revenue from product sales.
To help all those who seek our assistance in the area of family-based immigration petitions and provide referral of competent counsel through our pro bono attorney screening program of all family-based immigration cases with possible claims of relief.
Our pro bono attorneys represent people in immigration proceedings and may appear before an immigration judge, the Board of Immigration Appeals, USCIS interviews, circuit courts of appeal, or federal district courts. Cases range in subject matter and include cancellation of removal for legal permanent residents, citizenship claims, adjustment of status for refugees, political asylum, Convention Against Torture relief, and acquiring Special Immigrant Juvenile Status.
We also request pro bono attorneys with criminal law experience to seek post conviction relief in appropriate cases.
By representing our clients, pro bono attorneys personally make a difference in remedying the inequality of representation for individuals in immigration proceedings while gaining invaluable professional experience.
If you have questions about our pro bono program or are interested in accepting a case with us please contact our pro bono coordinating project director, Oola Sampson at info@immassist.org.
