A Different Kind of Hospice
Hospice Caring, Inc. is a prototype for what non-medical and bereavement care should be for those facing life-threatening illness or grieving the death of a loved one. It is the only non-medical volunteer hospice in Montgomery County. Since 1989, Hospice Caring's trained volunteers have provided practical and emotional support to terminally ill adults and children and their families, and to people grieving the death of a loved one, at no charge.
The Cottage, with its unique history, serves as a resource center for Hospice Caring staff, volunteers, and the community. In this capacity, The Cottage hosts support groups, volunteer trainings, holiday parties, and meetings. It also houses program staff and their offices.
Hospice Caring's Patient and Family program offers practical and emotional support to people in the darkest times of their life. Adult bereavement support groups are available throughout the county. Children's bereavement programs include the Good Grief Club, an in-school program available to all elementary, middle, and high school students, and Camp Caring, a weekend camp for children ages 8 to 14.
