Robert E. Watson has practiced law in Garrett County Maryland, including the Deep Creek Lake area, for the past 32 years. He is well know in Garrett, Allegheny and Washington Counties and handles a wide variety of cases and legal problems ranging from criminal law to most civil law matters with special emphasis on Personal Injury. His offices at 300 E. Alder Street in Oakland, Maryland (zip: 21550) are located directly across the street from the Garrett County Circuit Court, The Garrett County District Court and the County Sheriff’s Office and jail. He is known primarily as a trial lawyer and has tried many cases before trial courts, juries, appellate courts and arbitration panels including automobile accident and other personal injury cases, murder cases, child custody and divorce, DWI, drug related cases, boundary disputes and zoning issues among many others. He does not do tax law or bankruptcy, but has close referral associations with lawyers specializing in these fields. He has been Town Attorney for the Town of Oakland since 1982 and represented the Town of Mt. Lake Park for more than 20 years. These are the two largest municipalities in Garrett County. He has drafted many laws and ordinances including the Zoning Regulations for both towns. He is currently attorney to the Garrett County Board of Education, the Oakland Police Department and had acted as legal advisor to the Garrett County Sheriff’s Department. He has also acted as contract attorney to the Board of County Commissioners. He is admitted in Maryland and before the Supreme Court of the United States. For 12 years he served as Chairman of the Deep Creek Advisory and Review Panel and drafted the original version of the Lake Regulations.
