What Is Medical Malpractice?
Medical Malpractice occurs when a medical practitioner acts in a negligent manner involving the treatment of a medical condition, resulting in serious injury to the patient. Malpractice not only entails a wrongful action on the part of a medical practitioner, it also concerns the failure to take a medically appropriate action when warning signs are present. Medical malpractice examples include:
A failure to diagnose or misdiagnosis of a disease or medical condition
The inability to provide sufficient or appropriate treatment for a medical condition
An unreasonable delay in the treatment of a medical condition that has been diagnosed
Medical malpractice is synonymous withprofessional negligence and can result either by act or omission. It should be noted that the standards and regulations for medical mistakes vary by country and the jurisdiction within countries, necessitating professional liability insurance in order to offset the risk and costs of medical malpractice lawsuits.
If you or a member of your family has been seriously injured as a result of Medical Malpractice, or if your child has experienced a Birth Injury (including Cerebral Palsy or Mental Retardation), or a Spinal Cord Injury or Brain Injury (Stroke), please Call or Email the seasoned Medical Malpractice Lawyers at Snyder & Snyder now for a free consultation.
Medical Malpractice and Cerebral Palsy
If you believe a medical mistake directly caused your childs cerebral palsy, you may be entitled to a lifetime of financial benefits. Sadly, medical malpractice is the cause of countless cerebral palsy cases. Although they are highly trained professionals, doctors and hospital workers will sometimes make mistakes during the birthing process. Listed here are a few examples of the medical mistakes that can be made during child delivery that have resulted in children being born with cerebral palsy:
The child is left within the birth canal for too long, which results in a lack of oxygen supply to the brain
The inability to recognize and properly treat seizures that follow a childs delivery
Failure to identify and address a prolapsed cord
(the umbilical cord may cut off oxygen to a childs brain by wrapping around the neck)
Excessive vacuum extraction

Failure to perform acesarean section (or C-section) whenfetal distress should arise
Inability to respond to any changes that may occur in the fetal heart rate
Failure to plan a cesarean section
(an infant of high birth weight could potentially compromise typical, spontaneous vaginal delivery)
Inability to respond to the mothers conditions as they change (high blood pressure or toxemia)
Failure to diagnose jaundice in a timely manner or employ proper treatment
If you believe your childs severe birth injuries were the direct result of medical malpractice, contact the Maryland Cerebral Palsy Lawyers and Maryland Birth Injury Lawyers at Snyder & Snyder today for a no charge consultation.
Medical Malpractice and Brain Injuries
Brain injuries may occur as a result of preexisting medical conditions — but sadly — they may also occur from treatment errors, including the failure to properly treat or monitor a condition (e.g. a bleed in the brain or tumor). The injuries and damages that result may be catastrophic and can forever alter a persons life. This can be a tragic and taxing affair for all involved, as a brain injury victim will often require financial and medical support over the course of their life. Fortunately, the experienced lawyers ofSnyder & Snyder have handled numerous cases involving stroke, negligence in monitoring brain tumors, failure to treat brain tumors properly, failure to properly treat an individual suffering from atraumatic brain injury(a brain bleed that may occur after a car accident or fall), among other types of brain injuries. If you or your loved one believes they are suffering from a serious brain injury that has been caused bymedical malpractice ormedicalnegligence, immediately call the veteranbrain injury lawyers at Snyder & Snyder for a no charge consultation.

What is Cerebral Palsy?
The term cerebral palsy (CP) describes a group of chronic conditions that can hinder or inhibit both the movements and motor skills of the body, as well as coordination of the muscles. CP occurs due to damage to specific areas of the brain that may happen during fetal development or infancy and may also occur at any point before, during, or after the birthing process.
The word Cerebral refers to the brain and Palsy refers to a disorder concerning body movement or posture. A person with cerebral palsy has suffered an injury of the brain and is unable to utilize certain muscles in their body in a normal fashion. Children with cerebral palsy may be inhibited from walking, talking, eating or playing.
It must be stated that cerebral palsy is a condition (not a disease or illness) that is neither progressive, nor is itcommunicable. Sadly, CP is also incurable, though education, therapy andapplied technology can help those with cerebral palsy lead productive lives.
