Mission Statement
The American Dance Institute (ADI), a 501(c)(3), was founded to be a leading center for artistic excellence in the DC metro area. The American Dance Institute is one of the finest facilities for dance education in the Washington Metro area, with dance instruction serving children, pre-professionals, professionals and adults. The building contains four studios, a 140-seat performing arts space, a full-scale Pilates-equipped conditioning studio, playroom, dance library, and four dressing rooms. The mission of American Dance Institute is to build artistic, athletic, confident individuals through dance. Our faculty and staff strive to provide a nurturing environment where everyone who enters our doors feels better on the way out than they felt on the way in. As part of this effort, we are committed to broadening the dance education of children, teens and adults, particularly through live performance and direct involvement with professional artists and teachers. American Dance Institute serves as a community arts destination, not only for dance, but for all forms of art. In the lobby area, local artists showcase their work and American Dance Institute holds community events geared toward children, such as the Nutcracker and an Angelina Ballerina Open House, in celebration of National Dance Week in order to help teach them the importance of the arts.
The American Dance Institute is supported by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council, an agency dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive.
